My favorite yojijukugo is 諸行無常, something like, “Change is the only constant.” But my handwriting is atrocious, so I don’t think I’ll dare write it. Ugly kanji have to be bad luck or something.

The first character means wind. Note that I had provided a more detailed explanation then below the picture: Quote from Takeda Shingen (Sengoku period daimyo) became famous with this battle approach: “Move as swift as a wind, stay as silent as forest, attack as fierce as fire, undefeatable defense like a mountain.”

“The goal of all this cleaning is to welcome the deity of the new year” That applies to some people in the West, my family feel the same way as well here in the UK! The home-made udon looks delicious! Interesting what the script means because if I was to translate it I would think it would only said: “(cannot read the first kanji), forest, fire, mountain” to be honest.

thanks for taking your time to comment here. Note that the Inaniwa Udon were delicious and truly soft with a comfortable “slurpy feeling”, my only disappointment was my sesame based soup. My hubby’s soup had a well balanced dashi with a great well-rounded umami.

I also like udon, but have not yet tried the inaniwa udon. With your article it seems like it’s not that good. Maybe I’ll try it someday to taste it myself…

Yams! What a nice choice it is ! and the recipes of the janechannel looks great. I will try to cook it someday.
By the way If I grow some plant in this season, I would like to choose sweet potato. The reason is that a TV program featured it and explained the fact that sweet potato grow vines and spread vines all over the garden, roofs and your place. They make the temperature of your rooms lower. Vines contain a lot of water, and make shadows and decrease temperature of the places.
But if we don’t need to save energy, I would like to grow morning glory or sunflower. I simply think that those flowers are a symbol of the long and hot summer.
