Out of the box thinking is alive in Japan!

Until the introduction of Japanese Manga abroad, Japan was not the country that popped up first as a hotbed for creativity. While I believe in my field of expertise biotech or pharma much more should be done in Japan, other business areas have taken unique steps.
Now with the cooperation of Baidu (Chinese search engine) Rakuten became a bigger force internationally. I believe their approach for online shopping is unique. Why not take the real life set up of a shopping mall onto the internet platform? Creating shops for the consumer to directly communicate with the actual merchant provides a much closer feel, and it even allows price comparison within the mall. Compared to other known online shopping sites, Rakuten is not only more flexible, but as well supporting a “live market” feeling to your shopping experience.
Have you ever heard about the social networking site Gree? Do you know Tanaka Yoshikazu? Based on the value of his company Tanaka san joined the billionaires list of Forbes. Video games especially on mobile phones contributed to the rapid growth of Gree. Based on partially free games on mobile phones and strong advertising, Gree has built up a follower base of more than 16 million people from their 20s to their 40s.
For sure I will keep you posted about even more unique Japanese ideas!
